Soflo Chefs began with a simple idea: to bring the joy, creativity, and connection of restaurant-quality dining into the comfort of people’s homes.

Founded by Chef David Melendez—a classically trained chef with a background in fine dining and a heart rooted in hospitality—our journey started with intimate dinners for friends and family. Word quickly spread, and what began as small gatherings soon evolved into a full-service private chef and catering company known for flavor, elegance, and heart.

Chef David saw a gap in the market—too often, catering felt impersonal, and restaurant dining lacked the intimacy many celebrations deserve. So he set out to offer something different: a luxury culinary experience tailored entirely to each client.

Today, Soflo Chefs serves everything from intimate dinners for two to lavish celebrations for hundreds, always delivering the same core values—bold flavor, warm service, and unforgettable presentation.

Chef David, Owner

Hi, I’m Chef David Melendez—founder of Soflo Chefs, and the guy you’ll usually find behind the stove (and sometimes lighting candles or plating dessert). 

My passion for food was born in a South Florida kitchen, surrounded by the bold Latin and Caribbean flavors that shaped my childhood. Those early meals—full of laughter, flavor, and family—still inspire everything I create today.

With over 15 years in fine dining and hospitality, I’ve cooked for intimate dinners and large events alike, always focusing on one thing: making food that’s delicious, beautiful, and made with care.

I founded Soflo Chefs to blend the professionalism of fine dining with the warmth of a home-cooked meal. As a Miami native with Central American roots, my cooking reflects the vibrant flavors that have always fueled my love for food.

Before starting Soflo Chefs in 2018, I served as an Executive Chef and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. I hold degrees in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management, both earned with honors.

When I’m not crafting menus or leading events, I’m spending time with my family and our pup, Cooper, or enjoying my hobbies like sports card collecting and investing. At Soflo Chefs, it’s all about great food, genuine connection, and unforgettable experiences.

Chef Norma is a talented personal chef , blending the bold, soulful flavors of her Latin and Cajun roots into every dish she creates. Born in Honduras and raised in New Orleans, she brings a unique fusion of cultural influences and a deep passion for cooking to the South Florida culinary scene.

A graduate of the Culinary Program at Delgado Community College in 2013, Chef Norma has spent years perfecting her craft and delivering unforgettable dining experiences. Her warm personality, attention to detail, and rich culinary background make her a natural fit in the world of private chef services.

Chef Norma currently lives in Miami with her amazing son—who just might be an even bigger foodie than she is. When she’s not preparing vibrant, custom meals for our clients, you’ll find her in the kitchen baking up beautiful pastries and dreaming up sweet creations for future events.

Her love for people, flavor, and hospitality shines through in every plate, making her a beloved part of the Soflo Chefs team.
